3 Tips For Moving Your Clothing During Your Upcoming Move

Blog

Moving is no easy task, even if you hire a moving company, but it is something that must be done if you just purchased a new home. As you plan for this big day, you may wonder how you should go about moving your clothing. Clothes can be placed in boxes; however, this is not the best way to accomplish the task. Here are three tips you might want to try that could help you keep your clothes more organized during your move.

Pack An Overnight Bag

There are certain things you can pack ahead of time for a move, including your off-season clothes; however, it may be easier to wait until the week of your move to pack your clothes. If you pack ahead of time, you will have to place your clothes in boxes. If you wait until the week of your move, you might be able to follow the next two tips, which will make packing and unpacking your clothes much easier during the move.

No matter which option you choose, you will need to pack an overnight bag. This bag should include several changes of clothes, as well as any personal hygiene items you may need for the first few days after the move.

Leave Clothes In Drawers

One way to make moving clothing easier is by leaving your clothing in your dresser drawers. While this will increase the weight of your dresser, it will be a lot easier when it comes to moving your clothes and unpacking when you arrive at your new home.

If you are going to use this method, you should purchase a roll of stretch wrap. This is a material similar to plastic wrap, and you can use it to keep your things in your drawers in place. To do this, you will need to remove each drawer from your dresser. You can then wrap this material around the entire drawer. This does not take long to do, and you can actually wait until moving day to complete this task.

Keep in mind, if you use this tip, you will not be able to place your drawers back in the dresser. The movers could move your dressers easier without the drawers in place though, and they can carry and load the drawers separately.

Place Hanging Clothes In Garbage Bags

Finally, you may want to know an easy method for moving your hanging clothes that are currently in your closet. One easy method for this involves placing the clothes in garbage bags. You can do this by cutting a slit on the bottom (closed side) of garbage bags. You can then slip around 10 – 15 hangers with clothing through the slit. If you do this with all your hanging clothes, moving them will be a breeze.

Moving is not an easy task, which is why many people hire moving companies for help. If you would like to get a quote and learn more tips about moving, contact a local moving company, like Christos & Christos Moving and Storage, today.
